Chess

The pawn took the first step on the square
the knight could have done it but life’s unfair
there won’t be any move to spare
so the bishop took a leap of scare.

Back in the castle they start to tremble
and the knight finally made his trample
the king hides in his tower, an obvious fumble
the queen walked out with a disgraced mumble.

Slowly, the pawns started sacrificing
death ins inevitable but at least they’re trying
in numbers they lunge forward hoping
and in one single moment the tables are turning.

And now that the holy bishop sees his cue
he started lurching without the enemy’s clue
the queen and her gallant knight kill a few
the affair has just started but the king already knew.

So he send the knight ti enemy’s base
an apparent death was laid to his face
the stubborn queen decided to chase
she died eventually; her remains they can’t trace.

The king’s triumphant over his victory
though he really lost in this story
he may have kept his territory
but he can never win back his stolen glory.
